Branton Bridge Solicitors was a specialist personal injury solicitor firm based in Manchester, with a portfolio of about 2,200 cases under its control. 

The company entered into administration on 30 October 2009, appointing David Thornhill, Partner at FRP Advisory LLP, and Greg Mullarkey, Chief Executive at Blue Gate Capital Limited, as Joint Administrators. 

Shortly after their appointment, the Joint Administrators disposed of the business and assets of Branton Bridge Solicitors to Calibre Solicitors Limited (Calibre). 

Under the agreement, the staff of Branton Bridge Solicitors were transferred to Calibre, in a move which saved more than 30 jobs. 

Calibre is now trading under the name Legal Gateway Solicitors and has been able to provide continuity of care for Branton Bridge Solicitors’ clients, although it had been left up to individual clients to determine how their case should be dealt with following the transition. 

Completing this deal so quickly allowed for increased realisations from assets – and a maximum return to the creditors.
