Lammas School
Sector: Education
The Lammas School was placed in administration on 12 May 2010, with the appointment of Joint Administrator, Chris Stirland, partner at FRP Advisory LLP.
Although the private school had traded for over 20 years and had a good academic record, the pupil numbers had reduced considerably, resulting in a desperate need to restructure the business and increase working capital.
Following discussions with both staff and parents to gain their essential support for the summer term of the school year, the Joint Administrator was able to continue to trade the business, enabling pupils to complete important GCSE exams, while the business was marketed to potential buyers.
With the support of parents and teachers, the Joint Administrator was able to conclude a sale on 2 July 2010 to a joint venture, comprising a group of parents and the business angel JWL Ventures Ltd, safeguarding the school’s future.
Sufficient funds were also raised to undertake a significant investment in the school’s facilities and resources, enabling a reinvigorated school to be re-launched after the September summer holidays.
