A insolvent nationwide charity was the sponsoring employer for a long established pension scheme which was closed to new members in 2001.
Following discussions with various interested parties and acting upon advice from FRP Advisory, the board of trustees of the charity considered that the only way to effect a sale and protect asset values, the charitable purposes and employment, was through an insolvency process. This was undertaken in consultation with the Pensions Regulator, the Pension Protection Fund and the trustees of the pension scheme.
