R&W Cushway & Co Limited, specialists in resistance welding components, entered into administration on 6 May 2010, with the appointment of Joint Administrators, Jason Baker and Geoff Rowley, partners at FRP Advisory LLP.

R&W Cushway & Co Limited, a family-run business dating over three generations and based in Waltham Abbey, Essex, has been supplying specialist resistance welding consumables to the automotive industry for over seventy-three years.

The decline of the automotive industry badly affected the company and, ultimately, the trading losses incurred became unsustainable.

With support of key customers, key suppliers and the employees, the Joint Administrators were able to trade the company normally throughout the administration period, whilst they sought to secure the future of the business.

R&W Cushway & Co Limited was, ultimately, successfully sold to Cushway-Schmidt Limited (a subsidiary of Cushway Schmidt Inc) on 28 May 2010, securing 12 jobs. The new business now trades under the new name of Cushway-Schmidt Limited.
