Michael is a Licensed Insolvency Practitioner and a fellow of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals (R3) and the Insolvency Practitioners Association.
Having initially trained at Latham, Crossley and Davis in London, Michael left in 1986 to set up a business recovery division at Morton Thornton, a well established Hertfordshire based accountancy practice. He acted as Location Director for the Hertfordshire Business Recovery Services team which joined with 3 other progressive businesses in 2002 to become a public limited company offering accounting, tax and business recovery and advisory services to owner managed businesses.
Following a management buy-out in 2010, the national business recovery services team became FRP Advisory, one of the largest independent restructuring, recovery and insolvency firms in the UK.
Michael’s career spans some 32 years, during which time he has gained experience in all areas of business recovery and insolvency. He has worked on a wide range of insolvency appointments, including receiverships for clearing banks and other secured lenders, administrations, liquidations, company voluntary arrangements, individual voluntary arrangements and bankruptcies. He has also advised owners, managers and other stakeholders of troubled businesses on recovery strategy and has extensive experience in solvent liquidations for owners retiring from business and groups reorganising their operations.
At FRP Advisory, Michael is responsible for providing advice and solutions tailored to meet the requirements of a broad range of clients, ranging from major financial institutions to small owner-managed businesses.
In his spare time Michael acts as treasurer to a local charitable organisation and has a keen interest in most sports, wildlife and photography.
