Phil is a Partner in the FRP Advisory Business Recovery Services team in the London office.
Phil is a Chartered Accountant and Licensed Insolvency Practitioner. He qualified in 1997 at PricewaterhouseCoopers and previously spent 9 years with PKF. Phil has gained over 12 years experience in business reviews, turnaround and formal insolvency and has specialist knowledge in many business sectors.
Phil specialises in advising secured lenders and their customers, particularly in the owner-manager sector. Phil has previously spent 18 months seconded with the Global Restructuring Group of The Royal Bank of Scotland and a further 9 months seconded to the Special Situations Unit of HSBC Bank plc, assisting the Banks in developing strategies for dealing with their underperforming customers. Phil was also involved in delivering training programmes for the Bank’s relationship managers.
Phil’s interests include playing golf, watching most sports and taking his two sons to watch Chelsea when time, and tickets, permit.

Jason Baker

Jason qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1998. Having spent three years gaining post qualification experience within an international firm of accountants, he moved into corporate recovery in 2001, joining a top ten firm.
In 2004, Jason was placed on secondment for a year at a UK clearing bank, where he gained valuable knowledge of lending criteria and recovery practices. During his time there, Jason completed the insolvency examinations, later becoming a Licensed Insolvency Practitioner.
Jason is experienced in conducting business reviews, as well as leading formal insolvency assignments. He specialises in advising lenders and their customers, providing them with constructive, practical and preventative solutions for businesses facing financial challenges.

Jonathan Birch

Jonathan joined an FRP Advisory predecessor group in 1999, before moving across to the new firm in 2010. His responsibilities include managing the National Technical function and risk management for FRP Advisory.
Jonathan's experience of acting as principal in review/turnaround and formal insolvency assignments was gained in London, the West Midlands and the Central belt of Scotland. His industry experience is very broad, spanning charity & not for profit, manufacturing, engineering, meat processing, construction, property, IT & electronics, professional practice & hotels, bars & restaurants.
Jonathan has been a member of the R3 General Technical Committee since its inception and is a past President of the Insolvency Practitioners Association.
When he finds the time, his hobbies include walking, sailing and reading.

Lionel is Head of the National Asset Based Lending team at FRP Advisory, where his broad experience enables him to address business funding solutions.
Lionel joined an FRP Advisory predecessor firm in 1999, having spent the previous two years with a Big Four firm. He gained a close working knowledge of the demands placed on business and the importance of securing appropriate working capital support, having worked as a Business Manager for NatWest Bank.
Lionel has two daughters and is a keen Tottenham Hotspur FC supporter.

Andrew has extensive experience in the UK and internationally, both as a consultant and as CFO of companies going through restructuring. He heads our Cash Management and Stabilisation services, with a focus on:
- Hands-on cash control and payment prioritisation
- Working capital management
- Short to medium term forecasting
- Improvements to management information
- Financial stabilisation
Andrew has worked in a wide range of sectors, including manufacturing, engineering, retail, agriculture, food processing and real estate.
Andrew is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales. He is fluent in Polish.
Recent projects have been both in the UK and cross-border, including:
- Cash management and advice to a major, family owned UK horticultural business, including preparing an Independent Business Review for the lender.
- Advising the European part of a US group in Chapter 11, with operations in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands, on short term forecasting, business strategy and management of relations with the UK-based lender.
- Advising a group based in the Netherlands over more than a year, firstly as Acting Group CFO and, following the appointment of a permanent CFO, in a trouble-shooting role at the Alabama (US), and Spain production locations. Andrew was instrumental in ensuring the continued support of the lenders and in implementing improvements to cash forecasting, management reporting, product costing, as well as helping to formulate the strategy for the group.
- Advising Poland’s leading retail group on a successful restructuring of $120 million of syndicated debt by means of real estate backed bonds, the first transaction of its kind in the country.
- Working for some 18 months with a US listed group on its investment in Poland, advising on exit strategy and turnaround and assisting with reclaiming $18 million from the IRS, $13 million of which was in cash.
- Advising a bank group with €130 million of debt to a number of unincorporated agricultural businesses.
- Advising a bank syndicate with project finance of $360 million in the Polish power sector.
- Taking the role of Chief Restructuring Officer to a UK owner-managed business: the restructuring included downsizing the main, declining, business, managing it for cash and spinning off real estate to enable a refinancing.
CFO roles have included:
- Two years restructuring and developing a food processing business in South East Poland, acquired as a bankrupt cooperative by a Dutch investor.
- Two years for a US household name in the food and agriculture sector, assisting with the restructuring and eventual exit from its Polish investments.

Adrian Doble

Adrian Doble is head of FRP Advisory’s Restructuring Services division.
Adrian's role is to help companies survive, improve and prosper.
He represents companies with their investors and banks, helping them to create liquidity, restructure their debt, and devise and implement their turnaround plans. He will take responsibility alongside the CEO and board for the restructuring element – something that directors should take great comfort from in troubled times.
Adrian was made a Fellow of the Institute for Turnaround as a result of his services to company-side restructurings. He is also a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Bankers. Having worked on turnaround projects in the UK and Europe for 16 years, Adrian’s experience of the relationship between operations, finance and investors is an area that many companies benefit from.

- Restructuring a New Zealand based vineyard
- Advising on the buyout of an asset based lender business
- Introducing an aerospace deal to venture capital
- Advising a group of machine manufacturers in Germany, Holland, Belgium and the US

- Introduced by the International Finance Corporation to a Lithuanian-based textile woollens manufacturer, with 1,000 staff, to undertake a business review for the shareholders

- Arranging a pre-packaged sale of a call centre with 450 staff
- Managing the rescue and turnaround of a facilities management business with sales of £44m

A Licensed Insolvency Practitioner, Nigel has significant experience in a wide range of business and financial sector insolvencies gained in a career spanning 30 years. Nigel left a major UK practice in 1986 to set up a Greenfield practice in St Albans. He has been involved with numerous turnaround assignments during his career, and has acted on behalf of clearing banks, asset-based lenders and other financial institutions. Nigel maintains active involvement in the larger corporate insolvency and restructuring assignments at FRP Advisory.

Alastair is a Director at our London office and is involved in all aspects of advisory and formal insolvency work.
Having joined an FRP Advisory predecessor company in July 2009, he has since led a number of assignments, advising both lenders and directors of underperforming businesses. Offering a wealth of experience across a range of different sectors, Alastair has more recently specialised in working with mid-market businesses in the leisure, telecommunications, charity and business outsourcing sectors.
Prior to this, Alastair was a Senior Consultant at FTI Consulting and worked on a variety of engagements, including financial modelling, performance improvement, pre-lend due diligence and 13 week cashflow forecasting. He began his career as a graduate within the Business Recovery Services division of a Big Four firm, where he experienced a full range of advisory and executory appointments.
Alastair qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2004 and an Insolvency Practitioner in 2011. He also holds a BSc (Hons) degree from the University of Liverpool.

Susan joined an FRP Advisory predecessor company in 2005 after a career in the hospitality and leisure industry, culminating in running her own corporate events company and a series of restaurants. Susan also spent time in senior store management and operational head office roles in the retail sector.
FRP Transition, FRP Advisory’s interim management business, works for companies requiring operational, organisational or financial re engineering. Pressures can build on companies at any point in their commercial cycle so Transition works in start up, growth and distressed situations.
FRP is a sponsor and member of the Turnaround Management Association, which is linked to the work done by our restructuring and insolvency teams.
Part of Susan’s role is to identify and reference highly talented interim executives in all walks of industry and with all types of skills to cover the varied roles where an interim is required both in the UK and internationally.

Geoff Rowley

Having previously been a Partner within a leading mid tier UK firm, Geoff joined an FRP Advisory predecessor group in January 2006 as Head of Business Recovery London and National Head of Banking Services.
During 2010, Geoff, along with Jeremy French, led a management buy-out of the Business Recovery Services division of that group, establishing FRP Advisory LLP, one of the largest independent restructuring, recovery and insolvency firms in the UK.
Geoff specialises in corporate matters including advisory, restructuring and formal insolvency appointments and he regularly advises both lenders and directors of underperforming businesses, particularly in the owner-managed sector. Additional sector specialisms include, amongst others, property, construction, food and beverage, manufacturing and distribution. Geoff has also acted in a significant number of cases where fraud has occurred, seeking recoveries for creditors.
With over 20 years’ experience in advising businesses in distress, Geoff prides himself on finding practical solutions for clients.
Geoff's interests include spending time with his family, wine and the occasional game of golf.

Philip Watkins

Philip is a Partner in the Business Review and Advisory team. He specialises in advising companies and banks in turnaround, workout and restructuring situations and Philip’s experience includes spending 13 months seconded to the business support unit of a UK clearing bank in 2006/7.
A large part of Philip’s work consists of being instructed by banks and companies to undertake independent business reviews.
