106 year old supplier to high street stores enters administration with the appointment of FRP Advisory LLP
15 July 2010
Established in 1904, Hammer and Theelen Ltd, trading as Hillbrow Fashions, entered into administration yesterday with the appointment of Joint Administrators Geoff Rowley and Jason Baker, partners at FRP Advisory, the restructuring, recovery and insolvency specialists. The fashion supplier will continue to operate with no redundancies while the Joint Administrators seek a buyer for the business.
Hammer and Theelen Ltd, based in Stratford, East London, sources and supplies fashion clothing accessories for major retail chains including Debenhams, Dorothy Perkins, Topshop, ASOS and Jane Norman. The company employs 5 members of staff and has an annual turnover of circa £3m.
The Joint Administrators confirmed they are working closely with suppliers and customers to fulfil the £1.72m order book ahead of the forthcoming Winter Season.
Commenting, Geoff Rowley said: “It is a great shame that this historic firm has been forced into administration. In common with many suppliers in the UK retail market, the business has found its margins under increasing pressure, particularly given intensifying competition from suppliers in Asia.
“Ultimately, the directors concluded that the business could not continue to trade without the protection of administration. The company does, however, maintain strong relationships with its key customers and, together with them, we are focused on fulfilling the existing, healthy order book.”
The Joint Administrators advised that those interested in the potential purchase of Hammer and Theelen Ltd should contact Graham Holton at FRP Advisory in the first instance on 020 3005 4000 or email using the onilne form below.
