Business as usual at Durham Fruit Farms Ltd and Warren Lifestyle Ltd

FRP Advisory LLP appointed as administrators to Maldon, Essex based family-owned golf clubs and holiday park but insist business as usual

Durham Fruit Farms Limited, which operates The Warren Golf Club and Bunsay Downs and Badgers pay and play 9 hole golf courses, and Warren Lifestyle Ltd, trading as holiday lodge venue Herbage Park, entered into administration on 15th February 2012 with the appointment of Joint Administrators Jason Baker and Glyn Mummery, partners at FRP Advisory, the specialist restructuring, recovery and insolvency firm.

Administrators stressed both Maldon based-businesses continue to operate as normal and at this stage redundancies are not planned.

Commenting on the case, Jason Baker said: “Durham Fruit Farms and Warren Lifestyle are owned by the same family group of shareholders, with The Warren golf course in continued family ownership for four generations. Unfortunately, both businesses have experienced difficult trading conditions over the past few years and this led to cash flow difficulties; ultimately resulting in the businesses running out of cash. In order to protect the underlying value of both businesses the decision was reached, after consultation with stakeholders, to put each company into administration.

“Both businesses continue to trade as normal while we identify a suitable buyer or buyers for all or parts of the operation.”

Administrators confirmed that all function and membership facilities will remain open at The Warren Golf Club, Bunsay Downs and Badgers golf courses; and Herbage Park continues to accept residents and holiday makers to its lodges.
