Business as usual for The Shelleys, in Lewes
23 December 2010
The Shelleys, a country house hotel and restaurant in Lewes, East Sussex, is welcoming guests and patrons as usual, despite entering into administration in December.
Jason Baker and Chris Stevens, Partners at FRP Advisory LLP, the restructuring, recovery and insolvency specialists, were appointed Joint Administrators of the property on Lewes high street, on 17 December 2010.
The Shelleys, a 16th Century, grade II listed property with 4 stars from the AA, was placed into administration following a downturn in trade. The business was also affected by the relocation of some key corporate clients that no longer require accommodation in the area.
The Joint Administrators are continuing to operate the hotel and restaurant as normal, and are conducting an extensive marketing campaign for the sale of the business.
Commenting on the case, Jason said: “Trading is ongoing and the hotel and restaurant are continuing to welcome guests as usual. Meanwhile, a purchaser is being sought for the business.”
