FRP Advisory celebrates Excellence in Marketing at the Essex Business Excellence Awards 2010
14 October 2010
FRP Advisory LLP is delighted to congratulate the winners of the Excellence in Marketing award, sponsored by FRP Advisory, at the Essex Business Excellence Awards 2010.
Presenting three awards for Excellence in Marketing, Glyn Mummery and Gina Hall of FRP Advisory’s Hornchurch location, congratulated representatives from Mummy Mitts Ltd, Towngate Theatre and Bowens International Ltd, for beating strong competition within their respective categories.
The winner of the Excellence in Marketing Award micro company category was Mummy Mitts Ltd, a Chelmsford-based team of six headed up by Anna Dickson. The company has focussed on two ingenious, yet simple, product lines: Mummy Mitts, which attach to the handles of any pram or pushchair and so that they don’t get lost when removed, and the newly launched Bubbymitts, which attach to babies’ sleeves.
Since launching in 2007 following an appearance on BBC’s Dragon’s Den programme, the company has achieved media coverage in several national newspapers as well as on television, has arranged distribution lines with Boots, Mothercare and Toys R Us, and has even begun to receive celebrity endorsements for the products.
Meanwhile, the medium company winner of the Excellence in Marketing Award was Basildon’s Towngate Theatre. With a tight marketing budget, but an abundance of creativity, the Council-run theatre used social networking sites and an imaginative DVD to ensure a steady flow of ticket sales throughout the year, in additional to more traditional press and advertising channels.
Finally, the award for Excellence in Marketing within a large company went to Bowens International Limited, a worldwide designer of photographic equipment, with Head Offices in Clacton. The small marketing team of two, conceived and implemented a creative new marketing strategy that enabled the company to initiate and develop a direct relationship with its customers, an approach that had not been tried previously due to the sales channel used, which was distributor-based.
The approach, which included a suite of measures to target end users, included a customer registration scheme, a new product magazine and a new website, to ensure that a consistent marketing message was delivered to the photographers, without compromising their retailer supply chain.
Glyn Mummery, partner, and Gina Hall, marketing, of FRP Advisory, were delighted to present the Excellence in Marketing Award to its three worthy winners at the prestigious Essex Business Excellence Awards dinner on Thursday, 23 September.
Glyn commented: "The Essex Business Excellence Awards are about celebrating best practice and success in business – values that we at FRP Advisory can closely relate to. Each of the three winners of the Excellence in Marketing category demonstrated seriously impressive drive and innovation in the marketing field."
"It is an absolute pleasure to congratulate Mummy Mitts, Towngate Theatre and Bowens International Limited, for the creative ways in which they have developed their businesses, particularly in this challenging environment for business growth. It is wonderful to be able to celebrate such success among local businesses."
