FRP Advisory secures sale of The Shelleys in Lewes, safeguarding 18 jobs

East Sussex country house hotel and restaurant, The Shelleys, has been successfully sold to Colonnade Hotels Limited.

Joint Administrators, Jason Baker and Chris Stevens, partners at FRP Advisory LLP, the restructuring, recovery and insolvency specialists, were able to successfully trade the hotel and restaurant, while a buyer of the £800,000 per annum business was sought, securing 18 jobs.

Commenting on the sale, Jason said: "We are delighted that we were able to secure a sale of this well-loved 4-star, 16th Century, grade II listed country house hotel and restaurant.

"Working closely with the staff, we were able to honour all bookings and to continue to welcome clients, who remained loyal and hugely supportive throughout the administration process."

The property on Lewes high street was placed into administration on 17 December 2010, following a downturn in trade and a relocation of some key corporate clients that no longer required accommodation in the area.

Jason continued: "The sale of the business should provide The Shelleys with a more positive future and we wish the new owners and the employees well."
