Receivers seek to nurse Greenstead Social Club back to health with members help
1 November 2011
Chris Stirland and Nathan Jones, Joint Law of Property Act (LPA) Receivers of Greenstead Social Club and partners at specialist recovery, restructuring and insolvency firm FRP Advisory LLP, have vowed to work with the local council, the community and club members to safeguard the future of Greenstead Social Club in Colchester.
Mr Stirland and Mr Jones, who were appointed Joint LPA Receivers by the secured lender on 3 October, will re-open the club this week under a managing agent. Commenting, Mr Stirland said: "We have put in place a managing agent to undertake the running of the club and he has successfully negotiated with utility providers to reconnect the electricity supply, this strategy has only been possible with the support of the secured lender."
"We are working with the secured lender, local council and members to re-open the club as fast as possible, and we will re-open the doors before the end of the week. Our aim is then to enable the managing agent to trade the club and with the support of members, to stabilise its performance and return it to profitability.
"The managing agent will be setting up a committee of members to help drive the club forward. With local support we're confident Greenstead Social Club can continue to play its role in the town's community and social scene for years to come."
