Eight Competitiveness Report highlights the UK’s business resilience

Eight International, a global advisory organisation set up to meet a growing demand for dedicated financial and operational support for businesses with an international footprint, has today launched its 2021 Eight Competitiveness Report.

The 2021 Eight Competitiveness Report – now in its fifth year – contains comprehensive insight into the performance of eleven key countries, tracking the latest information on their progress and development within the global economy. This latest edition looks at the resilience of these countries during the global pandemic, and the factors that have contributed to their performance and recovery. The countries analysed as part of the report include Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Switzerland and the UK, Russia and India.

The report reveals that the UK holds top ten positions in the Fortune Global 500 ranking, ease of doing business ranking, global competitiveness index and economic freedom index – highlighting it’s continued strong position as a key region for business activity. The resilience shown by UK businesses over the last year throughout the pandemic makes them attractive for both domestic and international investment.

Alexis Karklins-Marchay, co-author of the report, Deputy Managing Partner at ‎Eight Advisory, and Secretary General at Eight International, said: “Over the past year, we have been able to learn a lot about how countries function. This report is about the choices countries make – and what it means for their societal, economic and financial future.”

Simon Longfield, Restructuring Advisory Partner at FRP, said: “Our relationship with Eight International allows us to have a clearer view of the global landscape. Eight International is a powerful organisation with growing reach, and the Competitiveness Report emphasises this – the research and data put into the report creates a strong picture of the business environments across a range of countries, and reinforces the benefits of strengthening our international presence through this alliance.”

FRP joined Eight International in July 2021 in a move that strengthens our position in providing solutions to create, preserve and recover value across a range of complex situations internationally. Founded in 2016, Eight International has since grown to become a network of more than 3,000 consultants that operate across five continents and 30 jurisdictions worldwide
