M&A Advisory

Grwp Llandrillo Menai

Advisers to leading Higher and Further Education provider, Grwp Llandrillo Menai, on its acquisition of North Wales Training.

The deal

We’re pleased to have supported Grwp Llandrillo Menai (GLLM), a leading Higher and Further Education provider on its acquisition of North Wales Training (NWT), based in Mochdre, Colwyn Bay.

GLLM has sites across Anglesey, Denbighshire, Gwynedd and Conwy and delivers courses to over 21,000 students.

NWT has become one of the leading commercial training providers in Wales offering a wide range of occupational and vocational-based programmes.

Our Corporate Finance team led by Partner Gary Partridge and Director Thomas Edwards worked with the senior management team to negotiate and structure the transition and manage it through to completion.

The acquisition of NWT will further enhance the number of courses offered by GLLM and allow them to develop their service offering in the commercial sector. NWT will continue to operate at its current site and will retain its independence but will develop a stronger working relationship with GLLM, in order for both organisations to continue to offer leading training services in the region.

Thomas Edwards, Director at FRP Corporate Finance, said: “We were delighted to work with GLLM to complete this strategic acquisition – it represents a significant milestone in their growth ambitions, and we are proud to have been entrusted with the role to advise them.”

Dafydd Evans, Chief Executive Officer at GLLM, said: “It has been part of our corporate strategy for some time to develop our portfolio in this way. We have had a very long-established relationship with North Wales Training and we know that they are very good indeed at what they do, fully deserving their excellent reputation and high profile, therefore this move feels like a natural progression to us.

“By working closely with the team, they ensured an outcome that was mutually agreed by all parties, avoiding any disruption to NWT employees or their learners. We’re grateful to the team for their support.”
