Premium Crops

Adviser to Premium Crops, a speciality crops company, on its sale to TCI.

The deal

Our Corporate Finance team Limited has successfully led the cross-border disposal of Premium Crops Limited to TCI. Premium Crops Limited, a leading provider of premium and specialist crops, based in Hampshire has been acquired by TCI, a US based world leader in the evaluation, development, commercialisation, and delivery of specialty crops. Premium Crops focuses on spring and winter linseed, red wheat, canary seed, millet, and naked oats, while TCI’s portfolio includes premium-priced crops such as high erucic acid rapeseed, borage, and echium.

For the two companies, the partnership seemed obvious, both companies operating in the same niche with similar objectives and ideals, yet without overlap or conflict in crops. The acquisition presents significant new opportunities for growers, in the UK. Our Corporate Finance team identified TCI as a potential acquirer and advised the management team and shareholders of Premium Crops.

“The team, led by Ian Milne, provided a phenomenal service to the shareholders in identifying the purchaser and presenting our business, and then in the detailed negotiations that followed. We just would not have got this deal done without their tremendous energy and commitment to the transaction, from the start to the finish. I would recommend them to anyone considering a sale of their business.” Nigel Bazeley, Founder and Director at Premium Crops.

We believe this merger adds value to growers, customers, and end users alike. We are thrilled to partner with a dynamic team that has such a great depth of expertise in speciality crops. Both sides benefit from deeper speciality crop knowledge and expertise, plus great synergies. It really is a perfect partnership. Speciality crops provide growers a way to differentiate their products and expertise, adding value whilst reducing their risks. Demand for these crops is growing across multiple industries and we believe these premium crops represent a small yet key component of the future of a diversified and specialised arable agricultural market globally.” Andrew Hebbard, President and CEO at TCI.
