Advisers to liquid waste management business, CountyClean Group, on its sale to specialist engineering services provider, Ipsum Group.
We’re pleased to have supported one of the UK’s leading liquid waste management businesses on its sale to a specialist engineering services provider.
Founded in 2007 by husband-and-wife team, Mike and Debbie Walker, CountyClean Group provides a 24/7 liquid waste management service to households and commercial organisations across London and the South East. It’s 48-strong team offers a wide range of solutions for customers, covering issues such as drain blockages, sewage treatment and liquid waste recycling.
It has now been acquired by Ipsum Group, a specialist provider of engineering services to the power, water, infrastructure and telecoms sectors, supporting over 4,000 different clients with their critical infrastructure needs. The business is backed by European private equity firm, IK Partners.
Our Corporate Finance team was appointed by CountyClean Group to find a suitable buyer for the business. We ran a targeted marketing campaign before identifying Ipsum Group as the ideal partner to take the business forward. We then managed the negotiations and co-ordinated the financial due diligence, managing the process through to completion.
The deal will allow CountyClean Group to draw on Ipsum Group’s extensive expertise to offer a broader range of engineering, design and consultancy services to its customers. Meanwhile Ipsum Group will now be able to add new liquid management capabilities, along with the business’ Surrey waste treatment and recycling facility, to its existing offering.
Adrian Alexander, Partner at FRP Corporate Finance, said: “The interest shown in CountyClean Group demonstrates how well-managed, specialist businesses remain highly attractive prospects for acquisition. It also fits with the wider consolidation trend we’re seeing in the waste management sector.
“By joining Ipsum Group, CountyClean now has access to the resources and services to drive further growth, and it was great to be able to support the team with this transaction.”
Mike Walker, Managing Director at CountyClean Group, said: “We are proud of CountyClean Group’s success over the last 19 years. This acquisition is a testament to that and the continuous drive and hard work of our people.
“Becoming a specialist business within Ipsum Group marks an exciting step in our growth journey. It not only allows us to bring our capabilities to a wider range of customers, but it also means our customers will have access to a whole range of new infrastructure services across power and controls & automation, as well as water.”
Debbie Walker, Director, Company Secretary at CountyClean Group, added: “This partnership brings together two businesses that share the same commitment to service excellence, innovation, and safety. By combining our expertise, we are not only strengthening our offering but also creating new opportunities for our teams and customers alike.
“We look forward to working closely with Ipsum Group to deliver even greater value across the markets we serve, and we’re grateful for the support from Adrian and the team at FRP Corporate Finance in getting this deal over the line. We appointed them for their expertise, and they certainly didn’t disappoint.”
