Monday November 2, 2020

Appointments bring partner total to 63

We have bolstered our team with the appointment of two new partners in London.

David Hudson and Simon Longfield both join our Restructuring Advisory practice and collectively they bring more than 50 years’ experience.

David, who also joins us as the Location Director for London, has significant expertise across the restructuring and financial markets having been an Equity Partner and London Head of Insolvency at a leading accountancy firm until 2012. During his time at the firm he led a number of high-profile cases, which included acting as the liquidator of Portsmouth City FC, advising the UK government on insolvency matters and working with the FBI, District Attorney and the SEC in relation to the liquidation of a UK company.

Since then, he has broadened his experience beyond the core restructuring market and held a number of senior roles in industry and most recently has worked as an independent Consultant, assisting on the London Capital & Finance PLC fraud case. He has also represented the Board of an international furniture exporter that included acting as the Managing Director of an Oxfordshire-based furniture manufacturer. In addition, he was also the Chief Financial Officer of an insurance MGA.

David said: “Over the last six years I’ve spent a significant amount of time working with stakeholders to bring people together and drive growth, and that’s something I’m really looking forward to bringing to FRP. The team in London is dynamic and the type of appointments the Restructuring team is getting mandates for is a clear indication of the firm’s direction of travel. Not only is FRP a great business, it has a strong, connected team and a brilliant culture. I can’t wait to get started so together we can drive the business forward in a manner that exceeds the expectation of all stakeholders, across all service lines.”

Joining alongside David is Simon Longfield. Simon is a turnaround specialist and for the last four years has acted as an independent Consultant to support businesses facing financial difficulties and advise on strategic transformation projects. Prior to this, he spent 22 years working on consensual restructuring and turnaround assignments, which included a number of complex engagements throughout the UK and internationally for secured lender groups and other financial stakeholders.

Simon’s work often involves providing financial and strategic restructuring advice and hands-on support to businesses in distress, and during his career he’s worked on secondment at two major commercial banks as well as in industry. This experience has enabled Simon to deal effectively with large, multi-stakeholder assignments across sectors including professional services, healthcare, retail, hospitality, and offshore marine, helping to reach outcomes to satisfy all parties.

Commenting on his appointment, Simon said: “FRP has a fantastic reputation in the market and to be joining such a highly-regarded, experienced team is a great opportunity. Many former colleagues now work at FRP so in many ways it won’t be like starting a new role, and I’m looking forward to working together again so we can better support clients across the UK and continue to drive forward the growth of the business.”

Jeremy French, COO of FRP, added: “Investing in talent is a core focus for our business and I’m delighted to welcome David and Simon to the firm. Together they bring an unrivalled breadth of experience and I have no doubt that they will play a significant role in the support that we continue to provide to our clients.”
