FRPs Forensic Technology team utilise cutting-edge AI to deliver within strict deadline.
Background
FRP’s Forensic Technology team was instructed to support a restructuring matter involving a substantial volume of data, over 750GB across 11 custodians. The client required identification of documents and emails specifically related to financial issues concerning several companies. With a strict deadline approaching, the case lead sought a solution that would minimise processing time and deliver results efficiently.
Action
The Forensic Technology team began by processing the dataset, which comprised more than 1.7 million documents. After assessing the case, the team determined that RelativityOne’s aiR for Review was suitable for this matter. Approval was obtained from the Restructuring Advisory specialists, and the team led the review process.
aiR for Review is a Large Language Model (LLM) artificial intelligence tool within RelativityOne that quickly scans and sorts large volumes of documents, helping teams find relevant information much faster than manual review. It uses prompts and feedback to identify what’s important, saving time and reducing costs.
To optimise the workflow, the team applied date range filters and excluded unnecessary custodians, reducing the review set to just over 100,000 documents. Case overview materials provided by the restructuring team were used to draft prompts for aiR for Review, enabling the identification of documents relevant to financial matters and categorising them into seven distinct issues.
Outcome
The use of aiR for Review enabled the team to identify key documents quickly and at a significantly lower cost than a traditional human-led review. All relevant materials were delivered within the required timeframe, with an estimated cost saving of £375,000 compared to manual review.
Being able to deploy and benefit from cutting edge technology such as Relativity’s aiR for Review has changed the way in which we go about large and small investigations. Saving costs is essential.
