Reflections on success, self-kindness and meaningful connections

In this Blog, Corporate Finance Manager, Kush Kunwar shares his key takeaways from Season 2 Episode 2 of Mind.Set

In this episode, Nick and Luke explore some fascinating themes around career, mental health, and relationships.

One of the key discussions centers on how highly-driven individuals often tie their self-worth to their achievements whether in career, education, or personal milestones. When success is disrupted, as Nick experienced during the pandemic, this can lead to internal struggles. This episode served as a powerful reminder of the importance of being kinder to yourself and recognising that success is rarely a straight path. There will always be highs and lows, but by practicing self-compassion, you can ensure that your well-being doesn’t fluctuate alongside external achievements.

We also live in a social media world, where it’s far too easy to feel like everyone else is thriving – celebrating promotions or travelling the world. I always find it useful to reflect on how far I’ve come and reminding myself that progress isn’t always visible in the moment.

Nick and Luke also highlight the importance of surrounding yourself with those you have strong relationships with, whether family, friends, or colleagues. Life’s challenges become far more manageable when we surround ourselves with people who support and uplift us. My biggest takeaway here is to prioritise meaningful relationships.

Overall, this was an honest and insightful episode. Nick and Luke’s willingness to tackle difficult topics made me reflect on resilience, self-kindness and the value of the people in our lives.
