Meet Jon

Jon joined FRP in 2023 as a Director in the Forensic Services team and is based in our London office. He has extensive experience in the forensic field having started his forensic career in 1991.

During his career Jon has worked as a forensic expert witness in both civil and criminal cases, for Claimants and Defendants, the Prosecution and Defence, as well as in corporate investigations. He has given expert testimony in The High Court, The Central Criminal Court, as well as other Crown Courts, Coroner’s Courts and Magistrates’ Courts.

He has worked across a variety of sectors, most notably technology, where he has extensive skills in the application of imaging technology to diverse fields, such as: the enhancement and analysis of video and photographic imagery, the operation of CCTV systems, x-ray examination of critical components, cell biology, military applications, and medical imaging.

Jon is also experienced in big data, having worked on big data analysis platforms to support major corporate investigations.

Notable high profile cases in Jon’s career were the successful appeal of Edward Browning, who was convicted of the M50 murder, where the Prosecution’s use of image enhancement was shown to be inaccurate, the processing of the CCTV images of Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed from the Hôtel Ritz Paris, and the successful defence against the first major personal injury claim between professional footballers Paul Elliot and Dean Saunders.

Other notable professional contributions of his include lecturing at police detective training courses, contributing towards a published textbook on Forensic Gait Analysis, being a founding member of the Forensic Imagery Analysis Group (FIAD) and sitting on the British Standards technical working group to establish the code of practice (BS7958) for the management and operation of CCTV systems.
