Autumn is so often the time when the attentions of business leaders turn to the new calendar year and planning for the opportunities it may present. But, as we near the end of 2020, it’s clear that 2021 will undoubtedly be one of increasing challenge and, crucially, evolution.
The economy, after all, is changing. And we must change with it as we continue to collectively manage the spread of COVID-19 while coming to terms with the reality of rolling restrictions and intermittent periods of enforced business closure.
Speaking to business owners over the last eight months, I have been struck by the resilience and fortitude of firms in every sector who have faced into the headwinds created by the pandemic. However, with no quick fix to the healthcare crisis in sight, we are entering a critical period where a commitment to ‘weathering the storm’ is no longer sufficient. Businesses must adapt and ultimately evolve to ensure they can prosper in the new economy that is forming.
This is particularly the case as we enter a second period of national lockdown and the government’s initial financial support schemes, in many cases, begin to require repayment. Early intervention and action now will limit the damage done and ensure many businesses are able to deliver an effective recovery and reshape their operations to create a viable, long-term strategy for growth.
To that end, I’m pleased to announce our new business solution, Review. Adapt. Evolve., to support those businesses considering their options.
