Pre-event

The 2025 FRP Corporate Finance Basketball Challenge is just around the corner, and Newcastle’s business community is gearing up to raise funds for the Eagles Community Foundation. With a deep-rooted commitment to community engagement, the foundation provides a comprehensive player pathway that previously didn’t exist – offering development opportunities for players, coaches, and volunteers, alongside education routes and access to facilities.

Our Newcastle Corporate Finance team, led by Partners Phil Williams and Abu Ali, have been longstanding supporters of the foundation.

Hosted at the iconic Newcastle Eagles Stadium, this highly anticipated fundraising event brings together businesses from across the region to compete in a fast-paced and fiercely fun 3×3 basketball challenge.

On 13th June, the largest tournament to date will see 36 teams take to the court, raising vital funds to help the foundation continue its impactful work.

Ahead of the event, Phil and Abu sat down with Sam Blake, CEO of the Eagles Community Foundation, to discuss the foundation’s incredible impact and the essential role of business-led fundraising initiatives in securing the future of basketball for young people across the North East.
