FRP secures pre pack sale as administrators of pharmacy chain Jhoots
We’re pleased to have secured the sale of pharmacy and chemist chain Jhoots Chemist and Jhoots Pharmacy (Jhoots) out of administration, with a portfolio of 68 sites to be taken over by Allied Pharmacies – building on the 60 branches it took over in November 2025.
Since opening its first store in Birmingham in 2002, Jhoots expanded to form a national chain of pharmacies and chemists. Working with specialist advisers Christie & Co, FRP engaged by the companies with Partner Ian Corfield and Senior Manager Charlie Dagworthy leading an accelerated sales process after cash pressures forced the temporary closure of the portfolio. Following a competitive bidding process, Allied Pharmacies were chosen as the preferred buyer based on a number of factors, including deliverability and experience in such situations.
The acquisition strengthens Allied Pharmacies’ position as a trusted provider of community pharmacy services, expanding its footprint and enhancing its ability to serve patients with high-quality care and innovative solutions right across the UK.
Ian Corfield, FRP Partner and Joint Administrator of the Jhoots Chemist and Jhoots Pharmacy companies, said: “Pharmacies play a crucial role in both the UK healthcare system and on the community high street, so we are pleased to have once again partnered with the market-leading specialists Christie & Co to secure a new home for these sites. We would also like to thank the NHS and General Pharmaceutical Council for their patience and support during this process.”
Suhail Abdullah, Group CEO of Allied Pharmacies, said: “We are delighted to welcome Jhoots sites into the Allied family, adding to the recent portfolio acquisition of the associated SNJ group. This acquisition reflects our group’s core values of patient care and community service, and we look forward to driving innovation in pharmacy services.”
Jonathan Board, Director and Head of Pharmacy at Christie & Co, said “Working closely once again with Ian Corfield and Charlie Dagworthy from leading specialist business advisory firm, FRP Advisory, our accelerated sale process has found a highly experienced buyer in Allied Pharmacies who has the capability and desire to get these 68 pharmacies back up and running in the shortest time possible. This deal highlights the strength and resilience of the UK pharmacy sector and the opportunities for growth through strategic partnerships.”
