FRP ensure seamless transition for care facility service users

Background

Iceni Care was incorporated in April 2011 and provided both residential and day centre services to adults with learning disabilities in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.  The business operated its day centre in Great Yarmouth to 48 young adults and housed 6 residential service users in the local area.

Action

The Company had never fully recovered from Covid 19 and liabilities due to the local council.  These liabilities, together with increased National Insurance costs, and other cost increases meant the company was unable to find a way forward and contacted FRP for assistance.

An early meeting with Hayley Watson and Sara Shreeve from FRP’s Norwich Restructuring office meant that together with the directors a plan could be put in place to ensure vital services continued for the service users with no disruption to the care they were receiving which was the number one priority for all involved.

Outcome

Liquidation was unfortunately unavoidable, however, the restructuring team at FRP Norwich worked together with the local council to ensure all employees’ wages could be paid so that vital care continued for all service users (both residential and day centre) until they were relocated to other local service providers.  In a seamless transition we were able to secure housing for the six residential service users, and, all 48 day centre users were transferred to another local facility.

The main concern for us throughout was ensuring all service users were unaffected and continued to receive day and residential care throughout the process.  We are thrilled we were able to do this by working together with the directors, staff and local council.

The Company ceased to trade on 28 November 2025 and Hayley Watson and Richard Bloomfield of FRP were appointed joint liquidators on 15 December 2025.

Our main priority was ensuring that the care for users of the services continued. By working together with the directors, staff and local council we were able to achieve this.
